Thomas F. Songer, II is the president of the Torron Group. He has been a resident of State College for more than 47 years. He graduated from Penn State in 1970 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer and surveyor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Tom was a principal in the following consulting engineering firms during the past 25 years: Uni-Tec, CMT Labs, and PennTerra Engineering.

At the present time, through the Torron Group, Tom is working on residential and non-residential land development projects with various partners in the State College area. Some of the residential projects on which Tom was the engineer or partner include Chestnut Ridge Manor, Stonebridge, Saybrook, The Landings, and Springfield Commons. In addition, Tom is serving as the principal partner in the following office buildings: Kalman Corporate Centre, CATO Office Centre, Torron Centre, Buchanan Centre, and Washington Centre. Torron Group negotiates leases with all of their tenants and manages all of their own buildings. The buildings that Torron Group owns and manages are Class A or Class B+ space, and they total approximately 195,000sf. A partial listing of the tenants in various buildings that are managed by Torron Group includes Sensor Networks, Merrill Lynch, Blue Mountain Quality Resources, Schuchert Orthodontics, State College Orthodontics, Pennoni Engineering, Indigo Bioscience, Commonwealth, and PNC Wealth Management.

In addition, Tom has served as a community volunteer with many organizations. In the past, Tom won awards for his volunteer work. He earned the Silver Beaver Award and Good Scout from the Juniata Valley Council of BSA. In 1994, he was the CBICC Volunteer of the year, and in 2004, he was the United Way Leonard Kneebone Volunteer of the Year. His hobbies include reading books and watching documentaries on the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WW I, WW II and other historical events. Tom has been married to his wife Sara for more than 50 years. Sara graduated from Penn State with a B.S in nursing and retired from an administrative position at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Tom and Sara were recognized by Penn State as the Honorees for Penn State Renaissance Scholarship for 2018. Tom and Sara have two sons and five grandchildren.
